Finally, some hero worship

By Yvette Trancoso
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, wait, it’s … MoneyMan?
Move over Superman and Spider-Man, there’s a new hero in town. Able to do taxes in a single bound with his trusty calculator, he can take care of any financial function in a microminute. Got a problem? Call MoneyMan. Clients hassling you? With a click of the lock on his mighty briefcase, MoneyMan is sure to find an answer. He’s due diligence’s main dude, auditing’s amigo but fraud’s biggest foe. He can knock out money launderers, keep a sharp eye on corporate governance (not to mention on who’s sneaking out early) and turn out financial reports, all from his trusty place on your desk.
This six-inch posable action figure from Toronto’s Happy Worker Inc. will remind everyone of the superhero status you have achieved. Wearing suspenders instead of a cape and glasses instead of a mask, he comes complete with a calculator, piggy bank, briefcase, and — you guessed it — money. Yes, this prolific and prosperous professional even comes with his very own wad of cash.
“Until now, the toy industry has overlooked managers and financial professionals as prime action figure fodder, something we’re hoping to change,” says Kris Schantz, founder of Happy Worker Inc. In addition to MoneyMan, the company created two other action figures that pay tribute to people in normal jobs: BossMan, a superhero for managers and executives, and GeekMan, the IT hero for the techno nerd, which garnered some attention after it was officially launched last May.
“They’re fun toys to have at your desk or give to friends or colleagues,” says Schantz. Who says heroes have to wear tights?
