Going concern
Michael Kron, CA Chair & CEO, AG Media Group Inc.
Company profile: Founded in 2003 by Michael Kron and Earl Azimov (the forces behind meta-search engine Mamma.com), AG Media Group Inc. is a faith-based media holding company comprising Internet, print, radio and TV-related content properties and technology development services. The public company, whose head office is in Montreal, projects monthly sales of US$150,000 by mid-2005.
Hot factor: Sales in the Christian music and entertainment industry topped US$4 billion in 2003 according to Forbes magazine, giving AG Media good reason to sing hallelujah. Not only does the company have alliances with major players such as Sony, EMI and Elecktra, but its flagship website, gospelcity.com, is recognized as the leading online destination for gospel music fans with nearly 10 million hits a month. The site generates revenue by offering online promotion, cross marketing and Web development to ministries, record labels and corporate clients.
Cool projects: AG Media plans to buy strategic Web-based entertainment companies and re-vamp their sites using cutting-edge technology and improved sales models to reach a wider demographic. Current initiatives include the launch of frontstagepass.com, a website promoting unsigned, independent artists, and a deal with UK’s Major Black Entertainment Ltd. to create a 12-part reality-based TV series.
In his own words: “AG Media is a company with multiple-stream revenue, low overhead and US sales. But what really sets us apart is our pool of talented people with the skills and know-how to meet the huge demand that exists in this under-serviced industry. What more could you ask for?” Anna Maria Greene
