Strategic planning task force report online

The final report of the Council of Senior Executives’ Strategic Planning Task Force is now available in pdf format on the CICA website. Developed over the past 12 months, the strategic plan provides the profession with a renewed vision and sets out four major areas of strategic action designed to position Canada’s CAs as trusted internationally recognized financial leaders in senior management, advisory, tax and assurance roles. Over the coming months, the plan will be implemented via new and existing groups that will develop detailed initiatives, targets, timelines and ways to evaluate progress.

Oversight council appointments
The Accounting Standards Oversight Council (AcSOC) is an independent body established to oversee the activities of the Accounting Standards Board and Public Sector Accounting Board.

AcSOC has approved the following appointment to the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB), the body responsible for developing and establishing standards and guidance governing financial accounting and reporting in Canada: Linda Mezon, CA, CPA (Michigan), vice-president — accounting policy, RBC Financial Group.

AcSOC has approved the following appointment to the Public Sector Accounting Board, the body responsible for establishing financial accounting and reporting standards for use by federal, provincial, territorial and local governments: John Burke, deputy minister, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, government of Ontario.
