Kevin J. Dancey to succeed David W. Smith as President and CEO of CICA

The Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants has approved the appointment of Kevin J. Dancey, FCA, as CICA’s President and CEO, effective October 1, 2006.  Mr. Dancey will succeed David W. Smith, FCA, who will retire September 30, 2006.

“The Board is delighted that Kevin has agreed to bring his vision, leadership, teambuilding skills and his extensive professional experience to the CICA during this time of challenge and change,” said David A. Hope, MBA, FCA, Chair, Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Board of Directors.

Kevin Dancey recently retired as CEO and Canadian Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He graduated from McMaster University in 1972 with a BA (Hon) in mathematics and economics.  He became a CA in 1975 and was awarded his FCA in 2000. He joined Coopers & Lybrand in 1973, became a partner in 1980 and was appointed head of the National Tax Practice in 1988.  In 2001, Kevin was elected CEO and Senior Partner of PwC and became a member of the global leadership team. Between the years of 1985 and 1987, he was a special adviser to the Department of Finance as part of the Executive Interchange Program.  From 1993 to 1995, he served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance in the Tax Policy Branch of the Federal Department of Finance.
