Christine Anne Thomson of Grant Thornton LLP in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador has taken top honours on the CA profession's 2003 Uniform Evaluation (UFE).
Thomson, who has been awarded the Governor General's Gold Medal and the Chartered Accountants of Canada cash prize of $5,000 for the highest standing in Canada, was one of 1,707 candidates who passed this year's UFE, which is considered one of the world's more rigorous professional examinations and an important step in qualifying to become a CA.
The Chartered Accountants of Canada regional Gold Medal and cash prize of $2,500 for the highest standing in the UFE in each of Ontario, Western Canada and Quebec, respectively, went to Giacomo J. Angelini, of Deloitte & Touche LLP in Burlington, Ontario; Sarah Kubsch of Deloitte & Touche LLP in Edmonton, Alberta; and Valérie Ménard of Ernst & Young SRL in Montreal, Quebec and Chantal Noël of KPMG s.r.l./S.E.N.C.R.L. in Montreal, Quebec (tie).
