Most job seekers expect to go on to a second interview when the first one goes well. But, increasingly, employers are calling them back for three or even four interviews before extending an offer, according to an international survey by human resource firm Right Management.
Four in 10 (39%) job seekers polled went for three interviews, and as many as 20% have been asked to come in for four or more interviews. Only 3% received one interview, while 34% had at least two.
Not surprisingly, the more senior the role, the more interviews were requested; 27% of C-level candidates can expect four or more interviews. Furthermore, older workers participate in three times more interviews; 48% of those 55 or older had four or more interviews, compared with 18% of those aged 25 to 34.
