Won't stop 'til they drop

Canadians aged 45 to 60 who retired early to start their own business — or those who plan to do so — have no
intention of slowing down. According to an Ipsos Reid study, 15% of these current and would-be entrepreneurs
expect to operate their business until they die.
Furthermore, one in five (21%) intend on running their business for more than 10 years into their
so-called retirement, while 38% say they will do so for six to 10 years. Just 16% say they will engage in
this activity for less than five years.
Most respondents (40%) said the need to keep occupied was the reason why they started or intended to start
their own businesses. Other reasons include fulfilling a lifelong dream (29%) or financial need (26%).
