Going concern

Jonathan Taub,
CA•IT President
Rimrock Corp.

Company profile: Rimrock, a Toronto consulting firm, was founded in 1989 by CA•IT Jonathan Taub. Companies looking to improve workflow and financial reporting turn to Rimrock’s staff of 15, including four CAs, who provide customized software solutions for customer relationship management, marketing, budgeting and accounting. With about 130 accounts, it is expecting significant growth. Currently, Rimrock has an annual gross revenue of about $2.5 million.

Hot factor: In 2000 Rimrock was awarded customer success story of the year by Great Plains Software, and Microsoft named it outstanding partner for Canada. Rimrock believes its progressive work/life balance philosophy has contributed to its success. Office hours are flexible and there are no vacation restrictions or dress code.

Cool Projects: Rimrock is currently implementing a new business management platform for Muskoka Woods Sports Resort and revamping the Canadian Air Transportation Security Authority workflow and management information systems. It has also implemented a custom Microsoft Dynamics CRM point of sale solution for Proresp Oxygen Distribution Services of Ontario, which allows people to order oxygen online and have the Ontario Ministry of Health pay the bill automatically. Another recent Rimrock project includes a new accounting system for the Canadian Cancer Society.

In his own words:  “Hiring and policy decisions are made in the context of ‘is this a place where I would want to work?’ People here are encouraged to work wherever and whenever they like, as long as the clients are serviced and they are productive. We do things properly and give good advice; our satisfaction and retention rates are exceptionally high. Our employee-client ecosystem is all about trust — like marriage, you just know when you’re a fit.”
