New courses for corporate directors
Being a board member is no easy task, but help is now at hand with two new training programs.
The ICD Corporate Governance College, formed by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, launched its Directors Education Program last month. Students take four modules, learning best practices in areas including board ethics, the role of the audit committee and relations with management. HEC Montréal will offer the program in French in 2004.
The Directors College, founded by McMaster University's Michael G. DeGroote School of Business and the Conference Board of Canada, also had its inaugural course last month. The program consists of five sessions, covering topics such as conflict and risk management, compliance, ethics and executive compensation. |
